IDLER PULLEY SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS

Your new pulley has been manufactured from hard wearing metal and in some instances design changes may mean that the shape and material used will not be the same as the pulley being replaced.

  1. If the engine has a serpentine belt it is advisable to sketch the belt route and also to note the order in which the pulley components are removed.
  2. Release the belt tension and either lay aside or remove belt.
  3. Remove faulty pulley taking care as some securing bolts have a left hand thread.
  4. If the new pulley is supplied with a bolt and dust cover these must be used. Always take care to fit the bolt head into the cup of the dust cover.
  5. Where the bolt and dust cover are not supplied the old bolt and dust cover are used. In some instances the original dust cover may not fit. When this occurs it is acceptable to install the pulley without the dust cover.
  6. Tighten securing bolt to manufacturer's specifications.
  7. Spin the pulley by hand to check that it turns freely.
  8. Check the belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
  9. The belt tension must be set to Ramair’s specifications as outlined in the supplied Fitting Instructions.
